To be more precise, they have held the leadership in the American market for 48 years, and since 1977, Ford has sold more than 33 million cars. With this result, the F-Series remains not only the most popular pickup truck, but also the most popular car in the United States as a whole – America’s favorite has remained in this status for 43 years. In 2025, the F-150 will celebrate its half-century anniversary.

The F-Series family includes pickups with gasoline and diesel engines, hybrid powertrains, and the all-electric F-150 Lightning. In 2022, Ford sold one pickup truck every 49 seconds – then the company managed to sell 640 thousand copies of different versions of the model. In 2023, the American brand has already sold more than 726.6 thousand F-Series cars, and in the past 2024 – 732.1 thousand, and this is only in the USA.

With the transition to the 2025 model year, the current F-150 lost its signature feature – the SecuriCode combination lock, a function introduced back in the late 80s of the last century. It allowed you to get into the car without a key; to do this you had to dial a special digital code. Now code access has finally been replaced by modern smart key fobs and keyless entry. However, for an additional fee of $455, dealers can install SecuriCode at the customer’s request.

But owners of earlier F-150 pickups produced between 2021 and 2023 are faced with a problem: 870 thousand new vehicles are subject to recall due to defective brakes. Owners are warned that the electric parking brake may engage while driving. Ford recorded 299 cases of sudden activation of the handbrake, of which 19 episodes involved the brakes being applied while driving. The reason for spontaneous operation is a short circuit in the wiring due to mechanical damage to the wiring harness.
