From January 1, the export of used cars without mileage will stop from China.

Such specimens have become a separate—and quite impressive in volume—segment of the local market. Often the equipment left the factories being completely new – with a protective film, zero mileage and other signs of a new car.

Chinese officials say the practice allows some companies to inflate domestic sales figures by shipping new products to traders and then automatically becoming used. And the trader is already engaged in export.

As Carnewschina notes, by the end of 2025, the export of used cars from the Middle Kingdom may exceed 500 thousand units, of which 70-80% are the aforementioned “no-mileage” units.

From January 1, 2026, in order to export a car, it will be necessary for more than 180 days to pass after the initial registration, plus the manufacturer will be required to agree to the export of its products.
