Gasoline and diesel fuel prices have risen for the second time since the beginning of the year in China.

The National Development and Reform Commission announced that as of January 16, fuel prices have increased again. For the first time, price tags at gas stations were rewritten on January 2. AI-92 gasoline increased in price by 340 yuan per ton (4.7 thousand rubles), diesel fuel – by 325 yuan per ton (4.5 thousand rubles). On average in China, refilling a tank (50 liters) of fuel will become more expensive by 13.5 yuan (189 rubles).

Currently, a liter of AI-95 gasoline in China costs 8.27 yuan (115 rubles), AI-92 costs 7.77 yuan (108 rubles), and diesel fuel can be refilled for 7.48 yuan (104 rubles). Since the beginning of 2025, gasoline prices have risen on average by 4.4 percent, and diesel by 4.7 percent. To be fair, from October to December 2024 the price was stable.

In Russia, experts were prohibited from speaking about gasoline prices. Russian regions with the cheapest gasoline are listed. In Kazakhstan, they decided to fight “gasoline tourism”

Although 2025 began with two price increases, fuel in China has returned to August 2024 levels. And in July last year, both gasoline and diesel were even more expensive: AI-95 cost 8.51 yuan per liter (119 rubles), and diesel fuel – 7.71 yuan per liter (107 rubles). The Chinese authorities attribute fluctuations in retail prices to volatility in the international petroleum products market.

The forecast for Russian fuel prices in 2025 is unfavorable. President of the National Automobile Union Anton Shaparin believes that gasoline prices will rise by 15%, and the head of the working group “Protection of the Rights of Motorists” of the All-Russian Popular Front, Pyotr Shkumatov, argues that we need to prepare for a price increase of 20%.
