Geely started selling an ultra-economical sedan at the price of Coolray

China has opened applications for the Galaxy L6 EM-i: an inexpensive model with a plug-in hybrid system. Recoil has decreased, the power plant itself has become simpler, and instead of a 1.5 turbo engine, a naturally aspirated engine of the same volume is installed. The new sedan is lighter and cheaper: prices start at 89,900 yuan ($12.3 thousand), which is comparable to the cost of a basic Geely Boyue (Coolray) with a turbo engine.

The Geely Galaxy L6 has been on sale since the summer of 2023, and at first the Chinese brand relied on a complex and productive hybrid with a three-speed DHT transmission, two electric motors and a turbo-four. Now the filling has been revised: the “aspirated” engine (112 hp) works in conjunction with an electric motor (218 hp) and a single-stage gearbox, there are two battery options for 8.5 or 19.1 kilowatt-hours. The power reserve without activating the internal combustion engine is 60 or 140 kilometers (CLTC), total autonomy is up to 1,300 kilometers.

From the outside, the 4.8-meter-long new product can most easily be identified by its classic door handles for a direct grip: retractable devices are a thing of the past. But the interior has been completely redone: now it does not copy the Geely Atlas. The touchscreen of the media system is horizontal, the steering wheel, central tunnel, seats, front panel have changed, and a block of analog keys and washers has been added between the front seats. Only the door cards remained unchanged!

The top version of the hybrid with the most powerful battery costs 117 thousand yuan ($16 thousand). The main competitor of the Geely Galaxy L6 will be the BYD Qin L sedan: it is on average 4,000 yuan ($550) more expensive. Thus, the price wars on the Chinese market show no sign of abating.
