The Great Wall Motor concern in China has opened pre-orders for the new Haval Raptor Plus hybrid SUV. The car will be presented in three trim levels and will receive advanced driver assistance systems powered by lidar.
In the Chinese market, the hybrid crossover will cost from 189.8 thousand yuan to 215.8 thousand yuan. The Haval Raptor Plus (aka Menglong Plus) is significantly larger than the regular Menglong PHEV plug-in hybrid. The length of the car is 4912 mm, the wheelbase is 2850 mm. The car has a new radiator grille design, roof rails and a spare tire on the fifth door. An important external difference is the lidar (laser radar) on the roof, thanks to which the car will have an “autopilot” function on the highway and in the city.
Under the hood is a hybrid power plant consisting of a 1.5-liter gasoline turbo engine and two electric motors. The total output of the system reaches 449 hp. This is enough to accelerate a heavy SUV from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.8 seconds. Three traction battery options are available for the car; the older version provides up to 255 km of electric range. The total range on gasoline and electricity exceeds 1 thousand km.
Equipment includes a rear differential lock and a steering function with brakes on the inside wheel. Ground clearance is 221 mm, and the maximum fording depth is 580 mm. The cabin features a digital instrument panel and a head-up display. There is a block of physical buttons under the media system screen. The car is available in five-seat and seven-seat interior configurations.
