The company is facing a class-action lawsuit over defective white paint that allegedly peels, bubbles and peels on many models produced since 2013, Carscoops reports.
This is the plaintiffs’ second attempt to achieve justice. The original lawsuit was filed in 2024, but a judge dismissed it in 2025, deeming the problem to be purely cosmetic and not affecting the functionality of the vehicles.
However, the plaintiffs have now revised their claims and filed the lawsuit again. The updated version states that peeling paint can harm the structural integrity of the body.
According to the documents, Honda knew about problems with the white paint since at least 2012, but deliberately hid the defect from customers when selling new cars.
The following models are listed in the lawsuit: Acura MDX, Honda Odyssey, Honda Pilot, Honda Fit, Honda HR-V.
This time, the court sided with the owners, noting that the statute of limitations begins from the moment the owner first noticed the problem, and not from the date of purchase of the car. The case will be reconsidered.
