I want to confuse: Omoda C5 has been updated and became Chery Tiggo 4 in China

Sales of the updated Chery crossover are starting on the Chinese market – previously this model was called Omoda C5, and after restyling it became the Chery Tiggo 5x High Energy Edition. What does Tiggo 4 have to do with it? And despite the fact that the Tiggo 5x family in China is known to Russians under the name Tiggo 4. Simply put, the crossover changed the family and moved from Omoda to the “junior” Tiggo line.

According to the Chinese Cars portal, the Omoda C5/Chery Tiggo 5x High Energy Edition debuted with a starting price of 69.9 thousand yuan (959 thousand rubles at today’s exchange rate), and the most expensive modification will cost the Chinese 83.9 thousand yuan (1 .15 million rubles). This is significantly cheaper than the pre-restyling Omoda C5, which cost 109.9-114.9 thousand yuan (approximately 1.53-1.6 million rubles). That is, the crossover was not only updated, but was also “downgraded” in Chery’s hierarchy.

Externally, the Chery Tiggo 5x High Energy Edition differs from the C5 in a different design of the front part: it has a raised radiator grille with a protruding “nose” and a different bumper design. The stern remained the same, and the interior was not touched. Inside, the crossover still has a single block of two screens and a four-spoke multifunction steering wheel.

Sales of the updated Omoda C5 have begun in Russia. How much does it cost Omoda C5 – no longer Chery, not yet Exeed? Cross-coupe Omoda C5 will be sold under the Chery brand

But from the updated Omoda C5, which recently appeared in Russia, the Tiggo 5x High Energy Edition in the specification for the Chinese market differs much more noticeably. “Our” restyled C5 has a frameless grille without chrome elements, ultra-narrow L-shaped daytime running lights and a completely different front bumper.

At the start of sales, the Chery Tiggo 5x High Energy Edition is available in China with a 1.5-liter turbo engine producing 156 horsepower coupled with a CVT. The drive is exclusively front-wheel drive. In Russia, the C5 is also offered with a 1.6-liter engine and a seven-speed “robot”, and this crossover has full drive.
