Iconic kei car Daihatsu Midget II from the game Gran Turismo put up for auction

The car is from 1996. Bidding takes place on the Bring a Trailer online marketplace in Houston, Texas. The current bid is only $2.5 thousand, and there is almost a week left until the end of the auction, Carscoops reports.

This car is known to American enthusiasts primarily thanks to the cult racing video game Gran Turismo, where it is remembered as one of the slowest and most unusual pickup trucks, firmly entrenched in the memory of millions of players with its eccentric design.

The actual example was imported from Japan in 2022. Mileage – about 95 thousand kilometers. Under the hood is a 659 cc three-cylinder engine with 31 hp. paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. The car features a centrally located single seat (like the McLaren F1 supercar), a spare wheel on the hood and floor-mounted air conditioning.
