Imports of used cars from China to the Russian Federation increased by 145%

According to the head of Autostat, Sergei Tselikov, the active import of used cars from China began only in 2023, and before that its volumes amounted to only a few.

“In the first three months of this year, 19.4 thousand used passenger cars (over 3 years old) were imported from China to Russia. This is almost 2.5 times more than in January-March last year (+145%),” Tselikov said.

The leader among second-hand goods from China was the German Volkswagen. In January-March, 5,093 of these used cars were imported into Russia—almost 8 times more than a year earlier. The most popular models were the Taylon crossover (1,163 units), Tharu (851 units), as well as the Golf hatchback (755 units) and T-Roc (572 units).

Audi took second place with 2,426 imported cars. This is followed by Toyota (2089 units), Honda (1552 units). BMW closes the top five with 1,371 vehicles.

Thus, China is turning not only into a key supplier of new cars, but also into a significant source of used foreign cars for the Russian market.
