In Moscow, the conditions for using car sharing are changing since autumn

Starting from September 1, 2025, residents and guests of the Russian capital who want to use car sharing will have to go through mandatory verification through the portal of city services Mos.ru. This innovation, according to Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, is aimed at solving two important problems.

Firstly, the verification procedure using MOS ID is designed to limit access to the service for malicious violators of traffic rules. Secondly, it will greatly simplify and accelerate the identity of the driver in the event of an emergency or traffic accident.

Although the new rules officially enter into force in a few weeks, until November of this year the test period will last. During this time, car sharing users will receive reminders of the need to fulfill new requirements. The mayor assured that the verification itself will not take much time and will require only online confirmation of the account on the portal mos.ru.

It is worth noting that Moscow already has experience in introducing such a measure. The capital of the first in Russia introduced mandatory verification for couriers and those who rent electric scooters. According to the mayor, this practice has proved its high efficiency – since the beginning of the current season, the number of accidents with the participation of these categories of participants in the movement has decreased by the impressive 60%.

Sobyanin emphasized the popularity of car sharing in Moscow. Every day, more than 150 thousand trips are made here using this service. It is noteworthy that even owners of personal cars are actively using car sharing in the capital.
