The Mosgordumi Commission on transport approved amendments to the city Administrative Code, increasing the fine for unpaid parking by 10 times – from five to 50 thousand rubles, Kommersant reports. This will only affect legal entities – owners of cars, but the innovation can turn into problems for individuals, some deputies say.

United Russia notes that almost a fifth of all fines in Moscow fall on cars belonging to taxis and logistics companies. And the share is constantly growing: in 2020, it was 16.4 percent, and last year it was already 19.2.

Often such violators leave cars near schools, medical facilities and in expensive parking lots for a long time, where an hour can cost 800 rubles. The new sanction will be more fair and will become the prevention of such cases, lawmakers believe.

Taxi drivers will be allowed to buy short -term insurance of passengers from the New Year in Moscow. The evacuation of cars of the State Duma approved an increase in fines for traffic violations from January 1

However, an increase in the fine can affect individuals, suggested deputy Rodion Gazmanov. For example, if the driver leased a car belonging to the legal entity, and forgot to pay for the parking lot. In this case, the owner of the car can set a 50-thousandth fine to him.

In the fall of last year in the State Duma, they approved a 50 percent discount on a fine for unpaid parking. However, it was still far from the adoption of the project: in the government it was asked to be finalized, since it does not meet the principles of systematicity and equality before the law.
