The Federation Council proposed to introduce legislative changes that will oblige car sharing companies to form a fleet mainly from cars produced in Russia. As the head of the Economic Council of the Federation Council Andrei Kutepov explained, we are talking about establishing requirements similar to the fact that they are already valid in the field of passenger transportation by passenger taxi. The innovation involves the inclusion of a norm that regulates the minimum share of cars, the level of localization of which meets state requirements.

The senator emphasized that the development strategy of the Russian automotive industry until 2035 is aimed at ensuring the domestic market with high -rolled products. At the same time, the demand for short -term rental of cars in Russia is growing rapidly – only in Moscow the car sharing park is expanding annually, and the number of trips in 2023 exceeded 50 million.

Earlier it became known that due to the new requirements for the localization of cars used in a taxi, the industry may encounter a shortage of drivers. This was reported by the analytical center under the Government of the Russian Federation. According to his study, about half of the drivers can leave the market if the requirements come into force. In addition, experts warn that this will lead to an increase in the cost of travel, since the fleets will be forced to be updated taking into account new standards.
