The Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology (Rosstandart) agreed on voluntary review of Volvo machines. The campaign applies to 280 XC60 and XC90 crossovers sold in the country from 2020 to 2022. The elimination of the defect that can lead to a fire will be eliminated – after the Volvo departure from Russia, it is responsible for the sold cars.
On the XC60 and XC90, a high-voltage battery may overheat due to a certain defect detected by Volvo. This can cause the thermal effect – that is, lead to fire.
Experts will check the battery cells and, if necessary, will replace them with safe ones. All work will carry out free of charge for the owners.

Despite the care of foreign companies, Russia continue to conduct reviews of cars sold. Since the beginning of 2025, more than 200 thousand cars have been recalled in the country. One of the last campaigns affected 55 thousand old Kia Sorento, Soul and Cerato. They needed repairs due to the printed circuit board of the hydraulic ECU, which could close.
Most manufacturers agree on the campaign without problems, but with some “you have to act more hard,” said in Rosstandart.
