After the departure of the Japanese car manufacturer from Russia, in the spring of 2023, the plant in Shushara crossed the new owner in the person of the subordinate Ministry of Industry and Trade of FSUE by us. In 2024, the asset was again transferred, this time a domestic company producing Aurus premium cars. The company was supposed to get out of downtime last year – it was planned to produce cars in cooperation with Chinese Hongqi on the site, but this has not yet happened. Now, “Business Petersburg” has found out new details about the fate of the former “Toyota” plant.
The publication writes that the Aurus personnel service opened five vacancies in St. Petersburg. The company is looking for engineers in exterior and interiors “for new and current models”, the leading engineer in electrician and electronics of the car, the research and development manager in the field of electricians and electronics, as well as the chassis manager. The listed vacancies indicate that the place of work is located in Shushara, in walking distance from the metro, and the form-Toyota former is suitable for the description.

Who will help the Aurus return production to work, which has been idle for three years is still unknown. Earlier it was reported that with the “New East Asian Partner” (probably Hongqi), agreements were never reached. The situation was complicated by the fact that in February 2024, the Aurus and FSUE we included the US Department of Finance, and the UK also imposed the sanctions on us in the spring of the same year.
Aurus intended to establish on the “Toyotov” site, the production of cars under his own brand. In the original plan, it was about at least four models of business and premium, including a sedan.
