In the Netherlands, a forty-year-old Ferrari 308 after tuning was valued more expensive than a new one

The Ferrari 308 GTB, which was produced from 1975 to 1985, is one of the most beautiful cars from the Maranello automaker. Now, forty years after the completion of its production, the Dutch tuning studio Maturo for € 425 thousand, excluding the cost of the donor car, is ready to build on its basis a restomod with a 400 hp engine. and modern content.

Maturo Competition Cars presented two projects based on the legendary coupe. One is for public roads, the second refers to Group 4 rally cars. The conversion begins with the company’s engineers stripping the original 308 down to bare metal, welding in a roll cage, and adding more than 150 additional welds for rigidity.

Next, the company handcrafts the flared front and rear fenders, just like the rally cars of yesteryear. They come with 15-inch wheels. The designers retained the iconic silhouette, updating only the optics (LED headlights and taillights).

The original 3.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 in European specification produced up to 255 hp. Maturo installed new camshafts, a modified ignition system, and original Capristo intake and exhaust manifolds on the engine. As a result, the engine produces 400 hp. The five-speed manual transmission was strengthened and a self-locking differential was added.

The chassis received modern brakes and an adjustable TracTive suspension. Prices for building a restomod start from €425 thousand, not counting the price of the original car. As a result, a tuned old Ferrari will cost the customer more than a new Ferrari 296 GTB.

Earlier in the United States, actor Paul Newman’s racing Ford Mustang Cobra, which had not been washed for 30 years, was put up for auction.
