A Florida car owner filed a lawsuit after he discovered an original car windshield sticker in the glove compartment. It indicated that the sports car was not intended for sale.
In a lawsuit against a Porsche dealer in Pennsylvania and the German automaker’s U.S. representative office, the car owner said that under the guise of a new car, he was sold a sports car, which for a year served as a training tool for apprentice mechanics, who could repeatedly disassemble and reassemble its components for training purposes.
At the same time, there were no external traces of use on the car: the odometer showed a mileage of 34 miles (55 km), the interior smelled of new plastic, and the managers assured that the car was used only for demonstration purposes to familiarize staff. The purchase of a 2022 Porsche 911 GT3 cost the American $282 thousand (22.3 million rubles).
The buyer asked for a factory window sticker – a standard document with equipment and price. He was told that there was none, and was given an alternative sheet with specifications. The truth was revealed the next morning after the car was delivered to Florida. The buyer found the sticker in the glove box. It indicated that the sports car was not intended for sale.
Shortly after purchase, the GT3 developed electrical problems. When the owner turned to a certified technician, he saw traces of serious interventions, and some parts on the bottom were removed and reinstalled with errors.
The trial on the car owner’s claim continues. In the appeal, he will have to prove that the sale of a training manual under the guise of a new car is not just an oversight by the car dealership, but an outright deception.
