The Bharat Mobility Global Expo (or simply AutoExpo-2025) auto show opened in India, during which Tata Motors presented three dozen passenger and commercial new products. Two of them are of greatest interest: the conceptual cross-coupe Avinya X, which demonstrates the further development of the design of the brand’s models, and the crossover for which the Sierra name has been revived.
The Tata Avinya X SUV is related to the Range Rover Velar and is positioned as a premium electric vehicle. For now, the new product is presented in concept status, but there will be a production version – it will appear in 2026. It will be based on the EMA (Electrified Modular Architecture) modular platform with an 800-volt electrical architecture developed by Jaguar Land Rover. There are no other technical details yet, but Tata says that the main components for the electric Avinya will be produced in India.

Among the design features of the Avinya X, we can highlight a continuous panoramic roof, a minimalist interior, in which there are practically no physical buttons, but there are many different storage compartments. It is claimed that the second row in the cross-coupe will be one of the most spacious in the class.
And if Avinya is still more than a year away from entering the market, then Tata’s second new product, which debuted at AutoExpo 2025, will not have to wait long. This is a Sierra crossover almost ready for mass production. In 1991-2003, a three-door SUV with an original panoramic rear window was sold under this name, and the new Sierra is its ideological successor.

The crossover has a square body with accented B-pillars and a sculpted hood. The new product differs from the 2023 concept car of the same name in the pattern of LED running lights, the design of the bumpers and headlights. Indian media write that the car is 4.3-4.4 meters long, the wheelbase is 2.65 meters, and the ground clearance is 200 millimeters.
There are no official photos of the interior yet, but journalists are confident that the Sierra will receive three screens, a panoramic roof, ventilated front seats, all-round cameras and adaptive cruise control.
According to unofficial information, the revived Sierra has an internal combustion engine under the hood. A one and a half liter gasoline turbo engine and a two-liter turbodiesel are mentioned – both develop about 170 horsepower. Tata has two transmission options to choose from: manual and automatic. All-wheel drive is also possible.
More details will appear this year, as the Sierra launch is expected in India before the end of 2025.
