The Russian car telegram channel claims: a team is being formed on the site near St. Petersburg, which is going to start a large-based assembly of the Jaecoo J7 and J8 crossovers. According to insiders, the owner of the AGR plant is looking for specialists for production; The conveyor is expected to restart in the summer, around August. Now Jaecoo is assembled at a neighboring factory: former Hyundai.
At the end of last year, a certificate of approval of the type of vehicle (OTTS) on the Jaecoo J7 from the former General Motors plant appeared in the open base of Rosstandart. It is logical that the “senior” model Jaecoo J8 will also be assembled on the same site. So far, both crossovers are produced in Russia in a DKD method, that is, we are already assembled a once disassembled car. In the summer they will go to the assembly for a large SKD method, that is, from brought machine tools.
The Jaecoo J8 test is the flagship crossover who is trying to be more than its price by the Russian blogger dismantled the Cher’s flagship: welding is worse than UAZ for why Jaecoo J7 is needed an advanced full -wheel drive
The General Motors plant in Shushara has not been functioning since 2015. At one time, Chevrolet Cruze, Captiva and Trailblazer, as well as Opel Astra and Antara were collected on the conveyor. Design capacity – 100 thousand cars per year. In 2020, the Korean Hyundai bought the site, but then the case did not reach the resumption of production. Now the conveyor is planned to be launched along with Chery.
According to insiders, 1700-2000 Jaecoo cars are gathering every month in Russia. There is no need to talk about localization of production, so the registration does not affect the prices: J7 costs from 2.02 million rubles, taking into account a direct discount, J8 – from 4.25 million rubles.
