Jaguar Land Rover has registered a trademark for selling cars in Russia

The corresponding application, submitted by a company from Great Britain to Rospatent at the end of March 2024, was granted, TASS reports, citing data from the Federal Service for Intellectual Property.

The registration of a trademark depicting the Jaguar brand logo was carried out immediately according to a wide list of classes of the International Classification of Goods and Services (ICGS).

Protection of the mark extends not only to cars and vehicles, but also to related categories: cosmetics, oils and fuels and lubricants, metals and their alloys, tools, equipment, devices, clothing and shoes, toys, as well as a wide range of services – from advertising and finance to car repair and rental.

This step is notable against the backdrop of the fact that in 2022, Jaguar Land Rover announced the suspension of shipments of its cars to Russia.

As the head of Rospatent, Yuri Zubov, previously explained, registration or renewal of trademarks by foreign brands in Russia in the current conditions is a standard practice, aimed primarily at protecting intellectual property and preventing the emergence of counterfeits.

In this way, the company wants to protect its brand on the Russian market, even despite the official absence of new supplies.
