According to Yonhap, citing an updated strategy, by the end of this year, Kia intends to implement 50 thousand cars in the Russian market. This is much less than the company sold in Russia before the crisis: for example, for the whole of 2019, Russians bought 225.9 thousand new KIA cars (data from European business associations).
The fact that Korean automakers can return to Russia became known at the end of this winter. Then the same Yonhap agency stated that the Hyundai-Kia concern was interested in the reverse ransom of the plant near St. Petersburg, which now belongs to AGR. At the same time, the option for the return ransom of the production site is valid until the end of 2025, and there is not much time, because the transaction should receive the approval of the Russian government, and the parties have to agree on the price.

Before leaving Russia in the spring of 2022, Hyundai and Kia were among the leaders of the Russian car market with total sales of about 370 thousand cars a year. It will not be easy to return to the pre -crisis positions of the Korean concern, since this niche is already occupied by Chinese stamps. This, apparently, explains the modest sales plan for 2025-50 thousand cars. For comparison: now, for example, Omoda (Avtostat’s data for 2024) is sold, and there is a HAVAL in the market leaders among foreign brands, which has implemented more than 190 thousand cars.
As for other figures from the adjusted sales plan for 2025, Kia plans to sell 1.11 million vehicles in North America, 774 thousand in Europe, 580 thousand in South Korea and 400 thousand in India.
