Kia recalls 33,013 Kia Rio vehicles due to fire hazard

The Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology has agreed on a program of activities to conduct a voluntary recall of Kia vehicles. The program of events itself was presented by KIA RUSSIA AND CIS LLC, which continues to be the representative of the Korean company on the Russian market.

The recall affects 33,013 Kia Rio QB generation vehicles that were delivered to customers from 2011 to 2018. The cause of the campaign is a possible short circuit in the fuse box.

On all vehicles, the HECU multi-fuse will be replaced by dealers and the fuse box cover will be properly marked.

The fuse originally installed at the factory may cause a short circuit, which in turn will lead to a fire in the engine compartment.

As the editors of Motor magazine found out, a characteristic harbinger of a fire is the activation of the ABS system malfunction lamp on the dashboard.
