Latvia has banned the mention of cities in Belarus and Russia on road signs

By September 30 this year, the country’s road services must either cover up the names of settlements or install new signs. Approximately 120 thousand euros (1.1 million rubles) will be spent on these goals.

On Latvijas radio, representatives of the CSDD Road Safety Analytics Department noted that partially covering road signs is not the optimal solution.

However, according to officials, since we are talking only about direction signs, this should not significantly affect traffic safety.

Meanwhile, numbers of the “AMP” series began to be confiscated in Russia, following the legendary “EKH”. In the Moscow region alone, 15 such combinations with the region code 97 were confiscated.

In addition, license plates “EKKH” – “I drive as I want” – will be confiscated in Russia. The reason for the seizure of EKH numbers is the threat of compromising the security forces.
