The L6 model, which produced more than 360 thousand copies during the year of sales, is being prepared for a major update. First of all, it will affect the capacity of the traction battery and driver assistance systems. Thanks to additional lidars (laser radars), the car will better “see” its surroundings.
According to data from the Chinese vehicle registry, the battery capacity will increase from 36.8 to 51 kWh, and the hybrid’s range will increase from 182 to 234 km, which is almost 30% more than the current version. This is a significant step forward for using a crossover without using a gasoline engine in daily use. The previous version provided an electric range of no more than 212 km. The maximum speed will also increase to 200 km/h.
The second important change concerns driver assistance systems. Lixiang L6 will be able to install four lidars. One of them will be located on the roof, and three more will be mounted on the sides and rear, which will provide all-round visibility and bring the autopilot functionality closer to the brand’s flagship model, the L9.
The exterior will be updated in line with the brand’s latest signature style, and traditional door handles will give way to semi-hidden ones. The body dimensions have remained virtually unchanged, with the exception of the length, which has increased by 10 mm (to 4935 mm). Under the hood of the car there is still a 1.5 petrol turbo engine, which charges the traction battery, and the car is driven by electric motors.
