Manufacturers may be obliged to supply cars with physical buttons

The car should have enough analog switches to manage the main functions, according to the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation. Now the cars are increasingly reminiscent of gadgets on wheels, and this is unsafe, since the driver has to constantly be distracted by the screen of the multimedia system.

The multimedia screen is essentially the same smartphone, said Vladimir Korobchak, Deputy Chairman of the All -Russian Society of Motorists.

“The driver should not be distracted at speed and look for on the display how to change the air direction or turn on the heating of the seats,” he added.

In his opinion, it is necessary to determine the minimum set of functions that should be controlled by physical elements. Such a list should be transferred to bodies that outstanding permits for the operation of vehicles.

Physical buttons remain: what the interiors of the new Genesis will be in BMW promised to do without huge Hyundai sensory screens that customers began to enrage touch screens

All manufacturers are unlikely to be able to adjust to such requirements, says Maxim Kadakov, editor -in -chief of the magazine Drive. Instead, you can, for example, reduce the rating of a particular machine if it does not have a minimum set of buttons. In Russia, such an assessment of vehicles can be given as part of the National Security Russian New Car Assessment Program (Runcap), which are going to restart this year.

In addition, members of the chamber discussed the growth of the number of “smart” assistants, including autonomous driving systems. They need regulation, social activists note, and you need to do this at the state level to prevent data leaks.
