Mazda will discontinue the oldest crossover in its model line

The Mazda CX-3 will leave the assembly line in Japan in February 2026. The oldest crossover remained on the Japanese automaker’s assembly line for more than 10 years – it entered the market in 2015.

Production of the compact Mazda CX-3 is coming to an end. It is reported that production of the model for the domestic Japanese market will officially cease at the end of this month. This was the first step towards stopping production of the model, which debuted back in 2015, around the world.

The CX-3 has long been an important model for the brand, but in recent years it has become very outdated compared to Mazda’s new crossovers. In the company’s key US market, its sales ceased in 2021, replacing it with the more modern CX-30. Currently, all Japan-spec CX-3s come from the Thailand plant, which also serves other markets.

Together with the CX-3, the Mazda2 hatchback, whose production is expected to stop in June of this year, will probably complete its life cycle. A full-fledged successor to the outgoing crossover will be a new model, which may receive the name CX-20. Its concept was shown last year, with the approximate date for the debut of the production version being 2027.

Earlier it became known how car production in Russia fell in 2025.
