The French Armed Forces ordered 7 thousand Zetros dual-purpose trucks from Daimler Trucks, TASS reports citing the Bild newspaper. The vehicles will be equipped with drone launch systems, which will be supplied by German drone manufacturer Quantum Systems.
Mercedes-Benz Zetros is an all-wheel drive truck with a bonnet design. The model is equipped with an all-metal two-door three-seater cabin, for which an armored version is also offered.
The base is a 7.2-liter inline six-cylinder turbodiesel with output of 326 hp, but there is also a 12-liter version with 428 hp, which comes with a 16-speed manual transmission.
France and Lithuania have ordered hundreds of Arocs 6×6 trucks from the German automaker. In the top modification, the permissible weight of the truck is 40 tons, and the total weight of the road train is 250 tons.
It is separately mentioned that the European armed forces also order Unimog all-terrain vehicles, Sprinter vans and G-Class SUVs from Mercedes. Some of the equipment is equipped with ballistic protection.
