Mercedes-AMG created a car weighing 2460 kg and accelerating to 100 km/h in 2.1 seconds

While many automakers are abandoning electric vehicles, AMG is creating an electric alternative to the four-door AMG GT coupe (previously the model was equipped with a hybrid V8 with up to 831 hp). Carscoops reports this.

The new AMG GT 4-Door Coupe is based on the AMG.EA platform. The car closely resembles last year’s AMG GT XX concept, but its design has undergone significant changes. The final version is certainly spectacular, but will likely be the subject of controversy.

The new electric AMG is designed to compete with the Porsche Taycan and Audi e-tron GT. In terms of design, it certainly stands out from their background, although its appearance may seem ambiguous. However, the main selling point of the Mercedes is its high performance and driving experience, which remains true to the spirit of AMG.

The technical basis of the sedan includes a traction battery with a capacity of 106 kWh, an 800-volt architecture and three modern axial flux electric motors. The flagship version of the GT 63 4Matic+ in Launch Control mode develops 1153 hp. and 2000 Nm of torque. The GT 55 modification, in turn, produces 805 hp.

Acceleration to 100 km/h for the new product takes 2.1 seconds, taking into account a standing start, and 2.4 seconds without it. The Mercedes accelerates to 200 km/h in 6.8 seconds, and with the Driver’s Package the top speed reaches 300 km/h. The curb weight of both versions – GT 63 and GT 55 – is 2460 kg.

The car supports DC fast charging up to 600 kW. Thanks to this, the battery is charged from 10 to 80% in 11 minutes, and in 10 minutes you can add 460 km of range. The range on a full battery is up to 696 km for the GT 63 and up to 700 km for the GT 55.
