Meteorologist Pozdnyakova: you can switch to summer tires as early as April 30

Night frosts are still possible, but significant precipitation is not expected. The chief specialist of the capital’s weather bureau, Tatyana Pozdnyakova, spoke about this in an interview with Motor magazine.

“I think that on April 30, drivers can already change winter tires. Despite the fact that at night on May 1 there will still be slightly negative temperatures in some places, significant precipitation is no longer expected,” the meteorologist noted.

According to her, there may still be icy conditions in the capital, but on the main routes road conditions will allow driving on summer tires. It is expected that by May 1, motorists will completely switch to summer tires. At the same time, Pozdnyakova noted that most drivers have already changed their tires.

On April 27, Moscow was covered in snow. In the Department of Transport, drivers who have already changed their winter tires were asked not to go on the roads. In addition, the rental of scooters and bicycles has been stopped in the capital. Traffic in Moscow was also complicated by trees that had fallen on the roadway.
