Nissan Xterra with two engines will cost buyers 2.9 million rubles

Nissan is bringing back the Xterra name. The company is preparing a body-on-frame SUV that will compete with the Ford Bronco (reborn five years ago) and the Toyota 4Runner (updated to the sixth generation two years ago). Carscoops reports this.

Nissan has unveiled two teaser images of the upcoming Xterra, and judging by them, the new product looks impressive. The first image is of the front end, which features a sculpted hood and enlarged Nissan lettering on the grille (like the Bronco).

Nissan posted a profile picture of the Xterra on LinkedIn. The rendering shows high ground clearance, black pillars and roof, off-road wheels and tires. The rear end isn’t fully revealed, but illustrations show the side-mounted tailgate, exposed tow hooks, LED lights and spare tire holder.

Nissan is using a new frame platform for the Xterra – it will form the basis for several of the brand’s next SUVs. Under the hood there will be two V6 variants: regular and hybrid. This is enough power to compete with the Bronco and Wrangler.

The head of the division in America, Christian Meunier, promised that Xterra would cost less than $40,000 (approximately 2.9 million rubles). This is lower than the Ford Bronco (3 million rubles), the five-door Jeep Wrangler (2.9 million rubles) and the Toyota 4Runner (3.1 million rubles).
