No longer SsangYong: Torres, Rexton, Tivoli and Korando want to be assembled in the Russian Federation

The Korean brand SsangYong, which changed its name to KGM, is returning to Russia. As Drom.ru reports, citing unnamed sources, the company Rex Motors, which represents the interests of KGM, is “conducting active negotiations with a production partner on organizing the assembly of cars in the Russian Federation.” It is planned to localize all four models previously confirmed for our market – Torres, Rexton, Tivoli and Korando.

It is still unknown which plant in Russia the negotiations are being conducted with. One way or another, at first all four KGM models will be supplied to us from South Korea, and only then, if agreements are reached with one of the Russian enterprises, large-unit assembly will be launched.
