Porsche will stop producing the Panamera and Taycan in the next few years

The reason for this decision is the desire to reduce development costs amid declining sales of electric vehicles and general economic challenges, Carscoops reports.

The idea is not to create one car, but to develop a family of models that will occupy a similar niche, but use different technical platforms.

This is reminiscent of the approach the company has already taken for the Macan and Cayenne crossovers: internal combustion engine (ICE) versions and hybrids will be based on one architecture, and all-electric versions will be based on another.

If the plans go ahead, the future model will offer buyers a smorgasbord of powertrains: petrol, hybrid and all-electric versions. It is assumed that modifications with internal combustion engines will receive the PPC platform, and electric cars will switch to the more modern SSP Sport architecture.

Earlier it was reported that Omoda C5 and C7 received the right to sell in the Russian Federation under the Jeland brand.
