Proton is exploring the possibility of producing cars in Kazakhstan

The Kazakh financial and industrial group Allur and the Malaysian Proton held negotiations, the topic of which was the possible joint production of cars. Proton management expressed its readiness to share its own engineering solutions, platforms, as well as experience in implementing environmental standards.

Since 2017, Proton has been part of the Geely holding company, so analogues of several Chinese models are assembled under the Malaysian brand. For example, the previous generation Geely Emgrand (aka Belgee S50) is produced under the name Proton S70.

Let us add that Proton has the status of one of the largest automakers in Southeast Asia. Since 1983, the company has produced licensed Mitsubishi models, but at the turn of 1990–2000 it began producing original cars, which undermined demand.

If Allur agrees to provide the existing production capacity, the production of refurbished Geelys can be launched in Kostanay, Kazakhstan (where the Allur-owned automobile plant is located). But there are no other details yet.

The BMW 7 Series will retain its “beyond ugliness” design for a long time. To spite the “Chinese”: Honda has brought down prices on motorcycles for Russians Monjaro for the poor: Geely has “ripped off” its flagship for the Russian market

Earlier it became known that Belgee cars will become better after modernization of the plant.
