Rare Ferrari supercars of racing driver Fritz Neuser will be sold in France

The auction, which will sell off the collection of the famous German athlete and successful Ferrari dealer in Germany, will take place in March 2026 in Paris. For charitable purposes, 93-year-old Neuser decided to part with 30 rare cars, including the famous Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona – the last model of the “pre-Fiat” era in the history of the brand. Motor talks about the most expensive and interesting lots in the collection.

The total number of lots exceeds three hundred: the Artcurial Motorcars auction house sells not only cars, but also related items from Neuser’s automobile collection. These are original spare parts for cars – up to engines, gearboxes and body parts for rare Ferraris, wheels and tires, as well as all kinds of little things – up to operating instructions, advertising brochures and neat plastic boxes with nuts, bolts and wheel caps.

Who is Fritz Neuser

Fritz Neuser was born in Nuremberg on April 14, 1932, now the owner of the collection is 93. In his youth, he was a cyclist: in particular, for three years in a row, from 1952 to 1955, he became the German champion in the sprint on tandems – two-seater bicycles. In 1956, Neuser took part in the Olympics in Melbourne, but luck did not accompany him and his crew partner Günther Ziegler. In one of the repechage races, Neuser and Ziegler faced the Soviet tandem of Rostislav Vargashkin and Vladimir Leonov.

As a result of the accident, three athletes were hospitalized, and the Soviet and combined German teams took the last, ninth place in these competitions. And then the Australians won.

After retiring from cycling, Neuser became a racing driver and successful car dealer. In particular, his company specialized in the restoration of classic Italian sports cars. And the former athlete began by selling two-cylinder Goggomobil small cars, which were produced by Hans Glass’s company in Dingolfing in the fifties, and then this brand was absorbed by BMW.

In the late 1950s, Fritz Neuser was the best Goggomobil salesman in Germany, and in the 1960s he founded a car repair shop in his native Nuremberg and became the official dealer of Alfa Romeo and Ferrari.

At the same time, he participated in auto racing and won more than 50 victories in various competitions, driving Abarth, Alfa Romeo and Porsche cars. His company Auto Neuser became widely known in Germany, and he soon became one of the best Ferrari dealers. Neuser had his cars serviced by celebrities who later became his friends, including Luciano Pavarotti and Michael Schumacher. The German businessman also established good personal relationships with the founder of the automobile company from Maranello, Enzo Ferrari.

In 2025, at the age of 93, Fritz Neuser decided to sell his collection and send the proceeds to a specially founded Fritz-Neuser-Stiftung foundation to support youth cycling and people in difficult life situations.

Pearl of the collection

The most expensive lot in the collector’s collection is the 1970 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona coupe, the expected price of which is 500-800 thousand euros. The coupes from the Neuser collection have a rich and unusual history. From the factory, the car was painted not in the signature red, but in the rare green shade Verde Medio. In the 2000s, the car was damaged in a fire and sold to a Dutch enthusiast, who, instead of the usual restorative repairs, carried out titanic work – he made a lighter aluminum body for the car.

The coupe entered Fritz Neuser’s collection in 2013, after which he, using long-standing connections in Ferrari, sent the car home. The restoration of the car cost 85 thousand euros, during which the Daytona was returned to its factory color and the technical components were brought to perfect condition.

Under the hood of the Daytona is a 4.4-liter V12 engine that develops a maximum of 352 hp. This was enough for the car to reach a top speed of 352 km/h. The car features rare early solid glass headlights – the design was later changed due to American safety regulations. Optionally, plexiglass headlights were offered for the European market, as the US required a different design of headlights. The mileage of the specimen from the collection is minimal – 4.3 thousand km.

The front-engine Daytona was produced until 1973, and the 365 GT4 BB (mid-engine) appeared in 1973. However, the direct successor to the Daytona is considered to be the 365 GT4 2+2, and the BB was a separate line of supercars. The piece from the collection for sale was made in 1975, this is the earliest and most desirable version for connoisseurs. A car with a flat 12-cylinder engine producing 380 hp. spent almost 40 years in the same hands, its mileage is less than 55 thousand km.

The 365 GT4 BB was Enzo Ferrari’s answer to the Lamborghini Miura; it amazed contemporaries with its aerodynamic body. Several years ago, the car underwent a complete restoration, completed in 2020.

During the work, the car was returned to its factory color Blu Sera – deep blue. Included is a complete history with photographs of the restoration process, tools, a jack and even the original folder with instructions and warranty card. In total, 387 of these cars were made, the estimate was 350-450 thousand euros.

Ferrari 575 Superamerica The third according to the expected estimate (350-450 thousand euros) is the Ferrari 575 Superamerica built in 2006. The example from the Fritz Neuser auction is painted in an unusual black color with a cognac leather interior. The glass roof of a car can change its transparency at the touch of a button.

The interior of the car has been preserved as if it had just come from the factory, and the mileage is just over 16 thousand km. In addition, this is the version with the HGTC package, which includes Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, a titanium exhaust system and a retuned gearbox.

In triplicate

The Ferrari 512 from the early 1980s will be offered at auction in three copies. The 1981 car with the factory index 512 BB is the last Ferrari with a carbureted V12. In the same year, engines for Italian sports cars began to be equipped with a Bosch fuel injection system. A distinctive feature of this model is its balanced handling, which ensures safety for the driver. The car put up for auction has covered only 25 thousand km.

Two more 512 BBi are equipped with injection engines. One of them, produced in 1983, was delivered new to the USA, and subsequently transported to Germany, where in 1990 it was significantly modified. Tuning included the installation of enlarged intake manifolds, special camshafts, brakes with cross-drilled discs and a transmission oil cooler. Another coupe, produced a year later, was sold in France, and the current owner purchased the car, impressed by its perfect condition.

Autodelta’s most radical Alfa Romeo

Under the GTAm index lies one of the most uncompromising racing versions of the Alfa Romeo coupe. It was based on the American version of the 1750 GT Veloce with injection engine. After changes in the regulations of the “Group 2” rally in 1970, cars prepared by the Autodelta studio received two-liter engines with a power of up to 240 hp. Externally, such cars were distinguished by wide rims and arch extensions with rivets.

The presented example with chassis number 1 532 022 is a genuine GTAm, which is confirmed by documents from the Alfa Romeo historical archive. The car left the factory on October 1, 1970 as a standard coupe, but was certified by Autodelta for competition on February 21, 1971. In 1973, it was presumably used to win the 4 Hours of Monza race.

Atelier Fritz Neuser purchased the car 12 years ago. The Alfa Romeo retains the authentic look of its racing youth, including an interior with a roll cage, bucket seat and tachometer marked to 10,000 rpm. The engine was rebuilt in Italy by the Alfa Delta Milano workshop, its output is estimated at 220 hp. The original engine block and many spare parts are included with the car. In total, about 40 examples of the Alfa Romeo GTAm were built.

Other Alfa Romeos that remain in the collection of an elderly dealer of the Italian brand include a classic 1965 Alfa Romeo Giulia Spider Veloce coupe, which was carefully restored in 2020, and a seemingly ordinary Alfa Romeo Giulia 1300 Super sedan, sold new in Italy in April 1971. Fritz Neuser purchased this car in 2022 and was captivated by the incredible original condition of the car, with no signs of rust. There was also a place for Alfa’s competitor – the 1959 Fiat Abarth 2200 Allemano Spider.

Despite the fact that the owner of the collection sold and serviced mainly Italian cars, there are also several German ones in his collection – including a luxurious Mercedes-Benz 220 convertible from the early fifties and a tuned Porsche 911 released two decades later.

A special place among the auction lots is occupied by related items: original body parts for rare Ferraris, carefully washed, repaired and preserved engines and gearboxes from sports cars. They themselves look like works of engineering art, although they are not intended to be seen by anyone other than qualified mechanics.
