The presented Volga K50 turned out to be not just a copy of the Geely Monjaro – the model uses the platform after a major update. The key detail that distinguishes the restyling is shock absorbers with adjustable stiffness, which are included in the list of equipment of the new product. This was reported by Rossiyskaya Gazeta with reference to Chinese cars.
“From a product point of view, the Volga K50 remains a very interesting car. After all, it’s not for nothing that Monjaro has been occupying high places in the sales hierarchy for a long time. If a domestically assembled SUV, all other things being equal, can offer a lower cost, it can also be a commercial success. But Volga’s development strategy still raises doubts,” the publication says.
It is already known that Volga will develop its own dealer network, independent of Geely. This is a serious challenge: starting from scratch requires large investments, large marketing budgets and building a complex system of interaction.
It is still difficult to predict K50 sales volumes. Success will depend on Volga’s readiness for large-scale investments and production stability. But from the point of view of the product itself, the company does have a “trump card”. It remains to be seen how she will play him.
It was previously reported that the first Jeland car body was welded at a former Russian GM plant.
