Russia plans to introduce special training for drivers of right-hand drive cars

The Russian government has instructed the relevant departments to closely work on cars with right-hand drive. By 2028, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the NAMI Institute must conduct a comprehensive study and report how dangerous such cars are for road users. This is evidenced by a document of the Cabinet of Ministers, which RIA Novosti reviewed.

In parallel, the authorities intend to find out whether it is necessary to introduce special training for right-hand drive drivers. This task must be solved by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Industry and Trade by 2027.

Particular attention is paid to regions where the share of such vehicles in the total fleet is especially high. If the decision is made, it will be possible to drive right-hand drive cars there only after special training.

Both initiatives are included in the action plan for the implementation of the road safety strategy, designed until 2030 (with a horizon until 2036).

Earlier it was reported that right-hand drive cars were banned from importing into Kazakhstan.
