Russian woman sued a new car at the Ministry of Internal Affairs: this is an inaction fee

The story began in March 2003: a citizen bought a new VAZ-21102 in Moscow for 185 thousand rubles. However, in August of the same year, the car was stolen. The Russian woman appealed to the Ministry of Internal Affairs with a statement, a criminal case was opened, but the “top ten” was never found. All the appeals in the police were replied that “operational-search measures did not give a result.” Only 20 years later, police officers invited a citizen to pick up a car at a special parking lot.

It turned out that the stolen VAZ-21102 was found back in November 2003, but for some reason it was not reported to the civilian. Then the citizen appealed to the court demanding to recover from the Ministry of Internal Affairs the cost of a similar new car (Lada Granta for 963 thousand rubles) and compensation for non -pecuniary damage. The process lasted two years, and all three instances supported the Russian woman.

The compensation of non -pecuniary damage in the amount of 100 thousand rubles declared by the plaintiff considered the judges overpriced and, “taking into account the requirements of rationality and justice,” awarded 7,000 rubles. But otherwise, the requirements were satisfied: the Ministry of Internal Affairs was obliged to pay 963,764 rubles taking into account the cost of scrap metal 18 921 rubles.
