In Trollhättan, Sweden, where the historic Saab plant is located, eight cars that belonged directly to the automaker were found. Some of the equipment is pre-production prototypes. Now the cars are looking for a new owner, and each copy will be sold through a bidding system from zero crowns.
The production of Saab cars stopped in the spring of 2011, but in 2012, NEVS bought the production facilities, technical center, and also received a license to use the iconic brand for $930 million.
In 2015, the new owner came into the possession of a Chinese investor, and soon cooperation with the Dongfeng concern began. At the same time, NEVS, at the request of the defense concern Saab AB, lost the rights to the Saab brand.
NEVS has not introduced a single new production model in its entire history, and in 2023 it ceased operations, fired almost all employees and entered hibernation mode.
In 2025, it was reported that car production would resume at the Saab plant in Trollhättan. The British AC Cars was then announced as a partner of the T-engineering company based there, founded by former Saab engineers.
