Several Hyundai trademarks were registered in Russia

In the Rospatent database, an approval of the application for extension of rights to trademarks of the South Korean company Hyundai appeared. TASS writes that at least eight items were protected: Hyundai H-1, N Perfomance, N Line, Hyundai Axis, Ellecity, Xcient, Hyundai H100, Hyundai Coupe. Applications were submitted last year, and approved in April with action until 2034. However, this does not mean that Hyundai plans to return to Russia, experts say.

Hyundai protected trademarks according to several classes. So, now it has the right to produce and sell cars, trucks, buses, tractors and tractors in Russia. Also in the list of goods – wheels, tires, shock absorbers, engines and components.

Hyundai, which suspended work in Russia in 2022, can strive to maintain a presence in the country and legally protect its key assets, said Alina Akinina, CEO of online patent. However, according to the auto expert Igor Morzharetto, the protection of trademarks does not mean anything: Koreans simply “support brands from the point of view of patent law”, so there is no reason to hope for a quick return yet.

Earlier this week, four trademarks registered KIA in Russia. One of them will allow the design of automobile plants and industrial enterprises, the other two – to produce cars and engage in maintenance. In addition, the brand defended the rights to the Kia Connect system.

Earlier, Hyundai said they would no longer respond to media reports about the allegedly imminent return of the company to Russia.
