Several VAZ-2109s on the Niva chassis went on sale

The editors of Motor magazine noticed that several VAZ-2109−34 appeared on several popular Internet sites for selling cars. This is a frame model, which differs in the combination of the “nine” body and the “Niva” units: the suspension, gearbox, transfer case, engine and steering are taken from the latter.

There are now about a dozen “Tarzans” of varying degrees of completeness on sale. The most interesting option looks like it costs 798 thousand rubles, equipped with a Peugeot diesel engine. This example has undergone a complete restoration procedure.

An SUV for 900 thousand rubles (in the title photo) also deserves it: it is in good condition, and its key feature is a snow blade. The car is also equipped with a French diesel engine, with which the consumption is 5-6 l/100 km.

It is important to clarify that in total several hundred copies of “Tarzans” were released (from 1997 to 2003). therefore, every surviving car is a rarity. It is all the more surprising that several of these all-wheel drive “hybrids” are now being sold at once.

The driver who mixed up the forward and reverse gears was put on trial. In Belarus, the Geely Monjaro costs 1.3 million rubles less than in Russia. The price of a 6-speed manual transmission for UAZ cars has become known.

Who doesn’t know Niva? Even abroad it is the most common domestic car. But do we remember where those legendary eyebrows above the headlights came from, or the family howl of the transfer case intermediate shaft, the cramped rear sofa between the wheel arches and many other things?

Who finally set the task of developing such a car, which on the sidelines of the plant was once called the “Car Project for Rural Areas”? And here, it turns out, lies a lot of untold stories.
