Izvestia: UAZ suspended production of cars in Cuba due to the energy crisis

The reason for the suspension was severe restrictions on electricity supply on the island. The assembly plant is located in Havana, Izvestia reports, citing the company’s press service.

“Currently, production, as in the case of most enterprises in the country, has been suspended, which is primarily due to severe restrictions on power supply on the island,” UAZ emphasized.

UAZ added that, together with the Cuban side, they are counting on a prompt resolution of the situation and a speedy resumption of the enterprise’s work.

UAZ assembly production was launched in Havana in April 2025. The company was engaged in large-scale assembly of Patriot and Pickup models, which were adapted to local climatic and road conditions.

At the first stage, it was planned to produce up to 500 cars per year, and when reaching full capacity – up to 1.5 thousand cars annually.

Earlier, Russo-Balt spoke about the transmission of the new crossover.
