SHOT: 10 Chinese auto brands are ready to leave Russia due to competition

We are talking about Kaiyi, BAIC, SWM, Dongfeng, Jetta, Bestune, Wey, Rox, Oting and VGV.

“Since January 1, many “non-giants” have suffered colossal losses – after the recycling fee has been increased. For a number of models it is now 900 thousand rubles instead of 750 thousand. Because of this, the final price of the cars is increasing, despite the fact that sales were already small,” SHOT claims, citing its sources.

According to the vice-president of the National Automobile Union (NAU) Anton Shaparin, in the near future the listed auto brands may leave the Russian market, since they are now operating at a loss.

Another reason for leaving is lost competition. The market was occupied by Geely, Haval and Chery. Thus, Kaiyi lost more than 30 dealer centers last year alone, and the loss at the end of 2024 reached 1.9 billion rubles – and this despite the Kaliningrad assembly. BAIC, SWM and Dongfeng are not doing much better. If brands go away, owners will also face a problem with spare parts, which were already difficult to obtain.

It was previously reported that Ferrari will release five new sports cars.
