One of the most beloved by Russians of brands does not plan to resume work in the country. This was written by the Autonews portal with reference to the press secretary for corporate communications of Skoda Auto Ivan Volnu. She stated that the Czech company “follows a sanctions policy against Russia.”
“Therefore, the resumption of entrepreneurial activity in Russia or the establishment of new business relations with Russian legal entities is not planned,” said Volna.
She also recalled that in the beginning of 2022, Skoda was faced with unprecedented difficulties in terms of logistics and conducting commercial activities.
Three years ago, Skoda stopped activities in Russia. The assembly of cars on two venues also arose: at the capacities of the GAZ GARS in Nizhny Novgorod, where Octavia, Kodiaq and Karoq were assembled, and at the Kaluga factory that produced Rapid.

In March 2023, Czechs estimated losses from leaving one of the most profitable markets. At that time, they amounted to about 700 million euros. Financial losses are due to the fact that Skoda supported factories and a trading network in working condition for a whole year.
Then the company’s management made a similar statement that there was no chance of restart in the Russian Federation in the near future. At the same time, it is unclear whether Skoda allows the possibility of returning in case of cancellation of sanctions – such as Toyota, according to insiders. They say that the Japanese company “dreams” to return to the Russian market and even organizes secret meetings with ex-dealers from Russia, but its actions depend on the political context.
