Skoda leaves China due to collapse in sales

According to CTK, Skoda will wind down sales in China in mid-2026.

The reason for the departure was the dramatic changes in the Chinese car market, in which local brands and electric cars are rapidly crowding out foreign manufacturers. Škoda intends to shift its attention to strengthening its position in India and Southeast Asia.

In recent years, sales of the Czech brand in China have fallen to critical levels. In 2025, dealers sold only 15 thousand Škoda cars, which is 14.5% less than a year earlier.

For comparison: ten years ago the company sold up to 300 thousand cars annually to China. Thus, the drop amounted to a more than 20-fold decrease in sales volume.

Earlier, Russo-Balt spoke about the transmission of the new crossover.
