The main differences will likely be in design and trim elements to highlight Subaru’s brand identity. There are also suggestions that the model may receive a more pronounced off-road style in order to differ from its “donor”.
It is expected that the new Subaru will inherit the impressive dimensions and spacious interior of the Highlander electric vehicle. The platform makes it possible to create a comfortable three-row cabin – presumably with a six-seat 2+2+2 layout and a panoramic glass roof. The interior is expected to feature a modern, minimalist design with large screens including a digital instrument panel and a central touchscreen display.
In terms of specifications, the powertrain and battery will likely also be borrowed from the Highlander. If this assumption is correct, then the new Subaru model will be able to offer a maximum power of about 343 hp. (252 kW) and a power reserve of up to 515 kilometers on the CLTC cycle.
It is noted that this step will mark an important stage in the electrification of the Subaru lineup and will allow the brand to quickly enter the competitive segment of large family electric vehicles, using the proven technological base of the partner.
