The BAIC BJ40 finally gets rid of the main drawback of most hybrid SUVs – the traction battery is too small. Sales of the BJ40 Long Range with a battery of almost 50 kWh have started in China. Now its electric range exceeds 250 km, and the total mileage reaches 1,300 km – due to the operation of the 1.5 petrol engine, which acts as a generator.
The power plant consists of a 1.5 turbo engine and two electric motors, the total output reaches 532 hp. The curb weight of the SUV in the Long Range version exceeded 2.5 tons. Externally, the Long Range is no different from the regular BJ40, which is also presented on the Russian market. The length of the car, depending on the version, is 4720-4790 mm, the wheelbase is 2760 mm, and the ground clearance is 215 mm. The rear door of the car is hinged.
In Russia, the BJ40 has a 2.0 petrol engine with 245 hp. costs from 3.79 to 4.5 million rubles, the hybrid version is not officially presented on our market. In China, for the new BJ40 Long Range they ask from 179.8 thousand yuan to 209.8 thousand yuan (2.2-2.6 million rubles).
