The blogger disassembled the Russian Sollers ST6 and compared it with the Toyota Hilux

A review of a truck with Japanese roots appeared on the RuTube channel of the founder of Club Service Ilya Sviridov. The craftsmen received a petrol Sollers ST6 in the Comfort configuration: we are talking about a localized version of the Chinese JAC T6, which, in turn, borrowed a lot from the previous generation Toyota Hilux. A domestic pickup truck now costs 2.68 million rubles excluding shares.

Ilya Sviridov said that the bottom of the Sollers ST6 is copied from the Hilux: the frame, the architecture of the front and rear suspension are borrowed from the Japanese pickup truck, as well as the Toyota roots of the 2.0-liter gasoline engine. The chassis can be considered a replica of the Japanese bestseller, but it is incorrect to consider Sollers a complete “clone”: after all, no one acquired a license for the entire design.

The Club Service observer praised the neat spot welding of the cabin, the doors with two reinforcements each, and the quality of the metal parts. However, the transverse body reinforcements do not reach the thresholds, the locker under the chair has thin walls, and they regretted the sealant: the layer is too thin in some places. There is also not enough noise and vibration insulation in the cabin.

The negative side is sloppy welding of the lower part of the frame, as well as rusty fragments on the power structure of the new car. Rapid corrosion is a consequence of the lack of anti-corrosion protection from the factory; neither the body nor the frame have been treated. There are also no fender liners, and in the cavities there is a very thin layer of anti-gravel: sandblasting will get on both the body and the cabin.

The blogger listed the advantages of the Sollers ST6 as a simple and durable engine with a cast iron block, rear disc brakes, a simple and reliable chassis design, as well as cable-driven “mechanics”. There are questions about the insulation of the wiring at the bottom: the connectors had to be protected with silicone. They took an unusual approach to insulating the exhaust system: the area was simply covered with a “down jacket sleeve.”

According to Ilya Sviridov, UAZ is going to localize the right car with potentially a minimum of “childhood diseases.” For legal entities, the Sollers ST6 will be an alternative to outdated Japanese pickups, since the car is much cheaper than parallel imported models. Localization will add to the popularity of the truck: both engines and gearboxes are made in Russia.
