The car repair market is going into the shadows: there will be more garage workshops in Russia

But clients should remember: savings come with no guarantees. The director of the department for work with partners of the Uremont service station, Alexander Petrov, told Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

According to the specialist, after the closure of foreign representative offices in Russia, highly qualified specialists, especially mechanics and electricians, moved to private specialized workshops. However, one should not expect a significant increase in the number of such services: amendments to tax legislation have become a serious test for business, and the prospects for opening new ones remain vague.

Instead, the expert predicts an increase in the number of private “garage” craftsmen working in cash or by transfer. It is extremely difficult to control their activities, and the client assumes all risks in terms of quality and guarantees.

As for prices, a significant increase occurred at the beginning of the year – on average by 500-1000 rubles for each service. Further dynamics will depend solely on the cost of spare parts. The increase in price will traditionally affect consumables and parts for European brands such as BMW and VAG Group.

A separate problem in 2026 is an acute shortage of specialized electricians. Today, every third service does not have a full-time electrical specialist, and vacancies are filled by craftsmen working at several service stations at once.

It was previously reported that UAZ is testing new diesel models in extreme conditions.
