The chief designer Mercedes complained about the monotony of new cars

Gorden Wagener told Autocar that the lack of individuality is the worst trend of design. Mercedes wants to avoid the future new items to slip into the “Sea of Uniformity”, because in the premium segment this is especially important. Cars are something more than a means of transportation, and in Stuttgart they are not going to produce “household equipment on wheels.”

Gorden Wagener emphasized that Mercedes-Benz on is something necessary, because the luxury is what you want, and not what you need. Therefore, the designer will pay more attention to respect for the design of new cars. “You deserve respect. You have achieved something in life, so you deserve respect for this, ”the brand stylist emphasized.

Mercedes will get rid of two models and complete the long-term partnership, the Mercedes chief designer told what type of body the future of Mercedes-Benz: in 10 years, designers will not be needed, and that’s why

Wagener recalled the Vision V concept frame, the main “chip” of which the chief designer considers the sign of the radiator, which no one else has. It is the radiator lattice that will become the very symbol that Mercedes allocates from the sea of monotony. However, the top manager agreed: the increase in the size of the radiator grille is not necessary, the emphasis on form and recognition is important.

Gorden Wagener once again said that in the future all Mercedes-Benz will look in the same style, and two areas of design will cease to develop. Thus, EQE and E-Class will become closer, and EQS will give way to the electrical version of the next S-Class. The new GLC will also look almost identical regardless of the type of nutrition.
