111 pilots from 40 Russian cities took part in the Systême Electric® drift championship. The dual stages with two weeks of training provided the athletes with a unique experience. This was reported by the press service of the Systême Electric ® Drift Championship.
“On the day of qualifying for the final stage, 71 pilots went through the starting arch to accelerate. The undisputed leader was Leonid Schneider (Krasnoyarsk), who showed a standard performance and scored 100.5 points in the second attempt, having collected 68 points after an unsuccessful first race,” the message says.
Drifting legend Dmitry Semenyuk, who missed the third stage due to technical problems, pleased the audience with his drives, but did not make it into the TOP-32. In the 1/8 finals, the winner of the third stage, Dmitry Putilin (Chelyabinsk), lost to Leonid Schneider (Krasnoyarsk). And Schneider himself lost to Artem Shabanov (Moscow) in a tough fight for third place. In the final, Ilya Popov (Sochi) and Danila Vorobyov (Penza) met, the winning cup went to the Sochi resident.
The finale gathered a record 2.5 thousand spectators at the Pilot TV channel. Tickets were sold out even before the start, the free area was overcrowded. Guests watched the races, communicated with the pilots and enjoyed the festive atmosphere.
