The first regional toll highway appeared in the Moscow region

On December 18, traffic on the Mytishchi Expressway was launched – it is assumed that the new road will relieve congestion on three highways and one of the busiest sections of the Moscow Ring Road. The 16-kilometer-long highway connects the Yaroslavskoe highway with Pirogovskoe, Ostashkovskoe and Afanasovskoe. With its opening, you can get from Mytishchi to Lobnya in about half an hour. Until fares are approved, travel will be free.

First the main numbers. The length of the Mytishchi Expressway is 16.1 kilometers, it has two lanes in both directions, each 3.75 meters long. The road has 11 bridges and overpasses and six interchanges, its capacity is 39 thousand cars per day. For now, travel is free, as fares have not yet been approved. The paid one will be implemented in the same way as on the Central Ring Road and M-12 Vostok – the so-called “free flow”. That is, money will be automatically debited from the transponder’s personal account, and you can top up the balance in your personal account.

It was previously reported that travel will cost approximately 10 rubles per kilometer, that is, motorists will pay about 160 rubles for a 16-kilometer route. However, this amount was announced at the start of construction and now it may change. Travel along the expressway will remain free for public transport.

New toll highways will be built in Russia for a trillion rubles. They want to make the Moscow high-speed diameter a toll highway for capital’s drivers. Paid parking has appeared in the Moscow region.

The official name of the Mytishchi chord is “Vinogradovo – Boltino – Tarasovka”. According to the chairman of the board of directors of the VIS group, Sergei Romash, there are 27 exits on the highway, which “allows it to be integrated into the existing road network.” “We moved almost 13 kilometers of high-voltage power lines and 2.5 kilometers of gas pipeline, as well as tens of kilometers of associated utility networks. Treatment facilities have been built on every kilometer of the route,” the press service of the Moscow Region Government quotes Romashov.

For 2025, it is planned to expand the 400-meter section to four lanes, connecting the Ostashkovskoye Highway – Ulyankovo village road, opened in 2023, with the Mytishchi Expressway. At the same time, roundabouts will appear at intersections during the reconstruction. The updated section will relieve congestion on the Ostashkovskoe highway and provide additional access to the Vinogradovo-Boltino-Tarasovka highway for residents of Pirogovo.
